Got Net Yet? August 1, 2004: Surf Coral Bay is happy to announce community-focused wireless broadband service for the businesses and residents of Coral Bay. History Ocean Store LLC, dba Surf Coral Bay, was funded by local investors and a grant from the RUS, US Department of Agriculture. Because of the low population density of St. John, a stand alone business proved not to be feasible and the operation was folded in what is now Broadband VI that includes the networks of Surf Coral Bay, Ackley Communications in St. John, St. Thomas, and St. Croix and Broadband VI's extensive network in St. Croix that includes a direct connections to the cable landing of Global Crossing. This consoladation provides coverage to substanially all of the Virgin Islands including outlying islands and to some parts of the British Virgin Islands. It also provides reliability with redunant paths within the territory and alternate paths out of the territory. Initially Coral Bay was covered from our site atop Bordeaux Mt. A relay was added in 2005 atop Grape Tree Hill then another at East End, another in Cruz Bay and finally two towers in Red Hook, St. Thomas so that now most of St. John has broadband service available from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay. Coverage from towers on Bordeaux Mountain, Grape Tree Hill, East End, all in St. John and coverage of Cruz Bay from a tower in Cruz Bay and coverage of southwestern St. John from two towers in Red Hook, St. Thomas If you are in sight of any of these towers, service is assured. Even if you can't see any, we may still reach your home or business. Click below for Broadband VI main site. |
